Great Success of the Morphing Wing Demonstrator at the International Industrial Fair

The presentation of the nature-inspired morphing wing demonstrator at this year’s International Industrial Fair in Brno attracted significant attention from both visitors and the media. Developed as part of the international BAANG project, the prototype showcases how metamaterials can enable smooth and efficient wing shape changes inspired by the flight mechanics of birds.

Experts from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Brno University of Technology, in collaboration with TU Wien, TU Delft, and Imperial College London, demonstrated how multidisciplinary design and innovative materials can contribute to the next generation of aircraft technologies.

The exhibit sparked great interest, drawing numerous questions from professionals and the public alike. Several Czech media also reported on the project’s success, highlighting its potential applications not only in aviation but also in space technologies.
