Prix d’Excellence of the Fondation Enovos

Tim Munhowen a former student employee at the Institute of Lightweight Design and Structural Biomechanics at the TU Wien, was awarded the Prix d’Excellence of the Fondation Enovos for his Diploma thesis “Modeling and simulation of superelastic lattice structures”. He conducted his thesis within the BAANG project where one goal of the project was to achieve the optimal adaptation of the aerodynamic shape of the wing to actual flight conditions. With his thesis Tim contributed to the design of the metamaterial forming the flexible hinge at the trailing edge.

The Prix d’Excellence of the Fondation Enovos is an annual award in which the Fondation Enovos and its partners, the “Ingsci (l’association Ingénieurs et Scientifiques du Luxembourg Asbl)” and “ANEIL (Association Nationale des Étudiants Ingénieurs Luxembourgeois)”, reward the best master’s theses by young engineers related to energy, sustainable development, or innovation. The prize is therefore dedicated to promoting and supporting research in the fields of energy, sustainable development, or innovation.

The award ceremony took place on October 31. Each winner had to briefly present her/his work to the audience in form of a 5 min pitch. The Luxembourg Minister for Digitalisation, for Research and Higher Education, Stéphanie Obertin, as well as the CEO of Enovos Luxembourg, Erik von Scholz, and the presidents of the respective associations were present at the ceremony.
